Multiple counties received funds from the state Department of Environmental Protection as part of its efforts to reduce pollution in parts of the Chesapeake Bay Watershed.
According to a press release, Blair, Bedford, Cambria, Clearfield and Huntingdon counties all received grants from the $24 million package approved by Gov. Josh Shapiro's administration. The grants are part of the 2025 Countywide Action Plan to reduce nutrient pollution and eroded sediment entering streams, rivers and lakes across the state.
Here are the numbers allotted to each county's conservation districts:

-- Cambria: $200,000
-- Clearfield: $116,747
-- Huntingdon: $542,142
"These grants have been used to implement everything from streambank tree plantings to livestock crossing installations. Their work benefits not only their communities, but our Commonwealth and beyond," Acting DEP Secretary Jessica Shirley said in the release. "It's projects that counties are putting on the ground that are changing the conversation from 'talking about fixing the Bay' to 'fixing the Bay,' and I'm excited to see the ingenuity and progress made by this year's grant recipients."
All or part of 43 counties are in Pennsylvania's share of the Chesapeake Bay Watershed, according to the release. The area spans half the state and includes over 12,000 miles of polluted streams and rivers.
