A family was left homeless after a fire tore through their mobile home Wednesday morning. According to the Geeseytown Community Fire Company, the 7:23 a.m. call was for a dwelling fire on the 500 block of Juniata Valley Road. Smoke and fire were visible when firefighters arrived on scene.

Multiple mutual aid tankers assisted with tanker shuttle operations to and from fill sites as firefighters battled the blaze that destroyed the home. The fire was brought under control in less than an hour, with all crews operating at the scene for two to three hours, according to the Geeseytown fire company’s Facebook page.

A dozen fire companies in total assisted with tackling the blaze.

According to WTAJ, Geeseytown fire chief Brian Walls said that after an initial investigation, they determined the cause of the fire was an electrical issue.

The American Red Cross is working with the family.
