City woman charged for drugs, prostitution
From Mirror staff reports
A city woman is accused of drug dealing and prostitution after allegedly arranging to sell cocaine and herself to an undercover officer.
Kimberly Jo Rexroad, 46, was arraigned Thursday by Magisterial District Judge Benjamin F. Jones on single felony counts of possession with intent to deliver and criminal use of a communication facility, as well as a single misdemeanor count of prostitution. Unable to post $50,000 bail, she was remanded to the Blair County Prison.
The charges stem from a tip that officers with the Logan Township Police Department received on Wednesday regarding individuals using a website to conduct illegal transactions of sexual acts for money. Initiating a narcotics and prostitution investigation, officers contacted a number on the site to inquire about services and availability, according to the affidavit of probable cause.
Through a text conversation, the officers made a deal with the person responding, later identified as Rexroad, to pay $100 for one gram of cocaine and $150 for unprotected “full service.” Officers then sent Rexroad the money via a cellphone app, after which Rexroad offered to get them an 8-ball of crack/cocaine from another dealer if they sent more. When officers declined, Rexroad said she was getting the gram from someone in her building, court documents state.
An officer arrived at a predetermined location to pick up Rexroad and when she entered the officer’s vehicle, Rexroad immediately handed him the suspected cocaine in a plastic bag while saying “here’s your coke.” Rexroad was then taken to a secondary location, where she was put into custody. At the police department, she told officers she advertised herself for prostitution and was not being directed by anyone else, police records state.
Rexroad is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in front of Jones on Nov. 20.
