Blair agency picked for national program
Blair County Adult Probation and Parole has been selected as one of five agencies from across the nation to participate in a technical assistance program focusing on recruiting, retention and staff wellness.
A division within the Blair County Court of Common Pleas, the probation and parole office will receive assistance through the Community Supervision Resource Center, managed by the Center for Effective Public Policy and funded by the Bureau of Justice Assistance.
These agencies help support community supervision — pretrial, probation and parole — by sharing and creating resources, highlighting innovations, sharing funding opportunities and providing technical assistance.
The local probation and parole team was selected from a national pool, said Scott Bailey, chief of Blair County Adult Probation and Parole.
The team is expected to share the knowledge gleaned from the program across Blair County government, according to a news release.
“This training opportunity will help strengthen the adult parole and probation office and therefore the court’s ability to serve justice fairly,” said President Judge Wade A. Kagarise.
As the recipient of the CSRC’s TA, the county will benefit from more support to continue to improve outcomes for the people served by the probation and parole office while pursuing innovative and best practices.
