A city man was killed in a motorcycle accident that occurred about 2:37 p.m. Thursday in Frankstown Township.

According to the Blair County Coroner’s Office, 57-year-old Brian L. Colabove died from injuries suffered in the crash. He was the only occupant on the motorcycle, the coroner’s office stated, adding that no other vehicles were involved.

In a news release, state police said Colabove was operating a 2014 Harley-Davidson Sportster north on South Logan Boulevard in the left lane of travel, when for unknown reasons, he lost control of the motorcycle. The motorcycle tipped over while in motion, causing Colabove to come off the vehicle and strike a metal sign post between the northbound and southbound lanes of South Logan Boulevard at its intersection with Brushmeade Road, police said. Colabove was pronounced dead at the scene by the coroner’s office.

The accident caused a section of South Logan Boulevard to be closed for more than two hours as police investigated.

The crash is under further investigation, state police stated.
