Torres held after alleged assault with pocket knife during argument

An argument Friday morning ended with a man being stabbed in the back and the woman behind bars, according to court documents.
Jhimenna Rachell Torres, 21, was arraigned Friday afternoon before Magisterial District Judge Daniel C. DeAntonio on a felony count of aggravated assault, misdemeanor counts of simple assault and recklessly endangering another person and a summary charge of harassment. Bail was set at $20,000 and she was remanded to the Blair County Prison. Her preliminary hearing is set for May 15 before DeAntonio.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, Altoona police were dispatched at 11:06 a.m. Friday to a home on the 1100 block of 16th Avenue for a reported stabbing. The suspect, Torres, was found in the alley outside the home and detained.
In talking with police, Torres said her boyfriend grabbed her and she stabbed him in the back. She explained that they had been in an argument all morning and she told him to leave. She claimed to be getting his belongings out of the room when he blocked the room. She said he grabbed her arms, and she grabbed a knife from the dresser and stabbed him, the report states.
Police talked to the victim at UPMC Altoona, who agreed the two were in an argument, but stated he was fed up with the argument and sat in the living room ignoring Torres. He said Torres then began cutting his clothes with a pocket knife, then she came into the living room with the knife, got in his face and told him to leave, but he could not have his stuff back. He then stood up and went toward the bedroom. She ran after him and tried to shove him out of the way, he told police. The victim said he shoved her back, turned to enter the bedroom and felt pressure and a burning in his shoulder. At that point, he turned and tackled her, taking away the knife, he told police. He then locked himself into the bathroom.
Police saw the cut up jeans and the sweatshirt the victim had been wearing, the report states.
In an interview at the Altoona Police Department, Torres said she threatened to cut up the victim's clothing if he did not leave. She said they both went from the living room to the doorway of the bedroom, where he grabbed her biceps with his hands. She then turned, picked up a folding pocket knife and stabbed him, she told police.
Torres also told police that the victim locked himself into the bathroom where he called 911, though she told him not to call the police.
The report notes that police saw a glass smoking device with metal grinders in the bedroom belonging to Torres.
