Old Mill Run Road structure set to be replaced

HOLLIDAYSBURG -- Keller Engineers is expected to move forward with engineering work on a replacement for Bridge 33 on Old Mill Run Road in Logan Township.

Blair County, which owns the bridge, is working with PennDOT on the project expected to require creation of a temporary access for nearby residents while a new bridge is under construction.

Commissioners Dave Kessling, Amy Webster and Laura Burke voted Tuesday to approve an agreement that assigns Keller Engineers the responsibility of providing preliminary design, final design, service during construction and construction inspection at a maximum cost of $562,666.

Chief Clerk/County Administrator Nicole Hemminger said the county will cover 5% of the cost based on an agreement commissioners previously approved.

The rest of the cost, she said, will be covered by federal transportation funds, at 80%, and state transportation funds, at 15%.

As for temporary access, Hemminger said the engineering firm is expected to explore options while designing a replacement for the two-lane bridge.
