Duncansville woman’s bail reduction request declined
Dibert accused of hiring man to kill estranged wife
A Duncansville woman accused of hiring a Lewistown man to kill her estranged wife and that woman’s family had her bail reduction request denied in Bedford County Court on Wednesday.
Heather Ann Dibert, 44, was charged with 32 felonies, including attempted solicitation – conspiracy to commit murder, conspiracy to aggravated arson – bodily injury and criminal solicitation to commit murder.
The charges stem from an October incident in which Dibert allegedly hired Zachery Sellers, 35, of Lewistown, to burn down the home where her estranged wife was staying with family members.
Dibert appeared before President Judge Travis Livengood for the bail reduction hearing, during which her attorney Mark Zearfaus requested the $1 million bail be lowered.
Dibert’s parents testified during the hearing, saying that Dibert could live with them, according to WTAJ reports. Dibert also spoke, saying she would work and abide by the conditions of bail.
Bedford County District Attorney Ashlan Clark said the commonwealth opposed any reduction of Dibert’s bail.
The district attorney’s office did request additional non-monetary conditions to be imposed if Dibert is able to post bail. Those conditions, granted by the judge on Wednesday, state that if released, Dibert will be required to wear a GPS monitor and report to the probation office for random visits. Dibert had previously been told she could have no contact with the victims.
Dibert remains in the Bedford County Correctional Facility on $1 million bail.
Sellers is also facing multiple charges, including felony counts of aggravated arson, arson, criminal attempt at aggravated assault and misdemeanor counts of criminal attempt at criminal homicide. He, too, remains in the Bedford County facility on $1 million bail.
