UGI Utilities rates going up starting June 1

UGI Utilities Inc. announced its purchased gas cost rates will increase June 1. The bill for a typical residential heating customer who uses 73.6 hundred cubic feet of natural gas per month, and purchases their supply from UGI, will increase on June 1 from $90.94 to $95.04 or 4.5%.

An additional increase is projected on Dec. 1. UGI will submit its Dec. 1 natural gas cost rate projection in an annual filing with the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission.

If UGI's proposed projected rates for Dec. 1 are approved, the bill for a typical residential heating customer will increase to $101.99 or an additional 7.3%.

UGI Utilities Inc. is based in Denver, Pa., and serves more than 740,000 natural gas and electric customers in 45 counties in Pennsylvania.

Balfurd recognized for community service

Tipton based Balfurd Linen & Uniform Service is a 2024 winner of TRSA's Company Community Service award, acknowledging the organization's contribution from volunteering employees' time and talents to public causes.

Balfurd's "Improving Lives Through Laundry'' theme refers to their customers, team and community. Their employee-led Community Outreach Committee receives a monthly stipend to support various community organizations. The committee finds and supports events and fundraisers, with team members typically supporting five community events each month, including at least two in-person events in which they volunteer or participate. Supported causes include a suicide prevention walk, animal shelters, local parade, "Paws in the Park," African American Heritage Festival, veteran's bike run and fundraising to fight breast cancer.

Curry Supply launches new program

Curry Supply, a provider of truck manu­facturing and upfitting, has announced the launch of its Curry Skill Enhancement and Employee Development Program within the assembly division.

The SEED Program offers a structured pathway for career advancement, empowering employees to enhance their skills and qualifications to improve overall livelihoods.

The Assembler Class descriptions outline three categories representing different skill levels. Class I Assemblers (entry level) are provided with foundational training to kickstart their career in truck assembly. Class II Assemblers (mid-level) assume more advanced roles, while Class III Assemblers (senior level) demonstrate mastery in truck assembly and leadership.
