Remake Learning Days coming up throughout May

Hogwarts inspired herbology will be held May 8 at the Roaring Spring Community Library, while Altoona Curve Education Days will be held May 9 at PNG Field. Both events are among dozens of free activities geared toward kids and their families as part of the Remake Learning Days festival,

May 2-22.

Remake Learning Days partners with local organizations to offer dozens of fun educational and hands-on activities for kids and their families to enjoy together.

Events are organized by six learning themes: Arts, Maker, Outdoor Learning, Science, Technology and Youth Voice, and there is still time to sign up. The festival is founded on a mounting body of research showing that shared community exploration and learning improves students’ academic performance and social skills, exposing them to a world of opportunities, interests and life changing experiences.

“Our communities are home to organizations doing incredible work,” said Yu-Ling Cheng, co-producer of Remake Learning Days. “Remake Learning Days is a catalyst to connect families with fun and inspiring events that empower them to think in fresh ways, learn new skills, and dream for the future. Remake Learning Days ensures these opportunities are open to all, promoting greater access to experiences that enliven learning for children and strengthen families.”

Among the other activities planned for Blair and surrounding areas are Family Science Night, May 13, at St. Francis University; Thriving Flora from Fertile Soil, May 14, by the Blair County Conservation District; Claysburg Remake Learning Night, May 16; robots and STEM tools at the Appalachia Intermediate Unit 8 booth, May 18, at the Blood Run Canoe and Kayak event, Everett; and STEM at the Portage Library, May 4.
