Property owners can get assistance

1 min read

JOHNSTOWN -- The Pennsylvania Homeowner Assistance Fund has been reopened and Cambria and Somerset County residents who were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic could benefit.

To be eligible for PAHAF, the property must be in Pennsylvania and the homeowner must own and occupy the property as their primary residence. The homeowner has to be at least 30 days past due on mortgage payments and/or housing-related expenses for which they are requesting PAHAF assistance and has experienced a financial hardship as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic since Jan. 21, 2020, and is seeking assistance with past due mortgage and housing-related expenses. This can include a qualified financial hardship that began before Jan. 21, 2020, and continued after that date.

PAHAF funds will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Priority will be given to homeowners facing an imminent adverse action such as a notice of foreclosure, sheriff sale or utility shut-off notice. Applying does not guarantee funding.

Households that have already received PAHAF monies in the past are not eligible to receive funds.
