Teenagers charged as adults in shooting

Four 16-year-olds face felony counts including criminal attempted homicide

Five city teenagers are being charged as adults after a report of shots fired in the early morning hours of New Year’s Day. According to online court documents, three of the four teens arrested and arraigned Thursday face a felony charge of criminal attempt criminal homicide, although additional information about the shooting incident was not released by Thursday evening.

Altoona police responded to the shots fired report about 3:13 a.m. Jan. 1 in the area of Fourth Street and Seventh Avenue, according to the Altoona Police Department’s Facebook page. At that time, police engaged in multiple foot pursuits with suspects, the report states.

Through the investigation, detectives identified five 16-year-old suspects — Domenico Pezzuti, Eli Rodgers, Hezikiah Stehley, Imeen Whitaker and Ezekiel Williams — and obtained arrest warrants charging the juveniles as adults.

On Thursday, Altoona police detectives and officers, Blair County detectives, Office of the Attorney General agents and Logan Township police conducted numerous search warrants throughout the area, serving the arrest warrants.

Taken into custody were Pezzuti, Rodgers, Whitaker and Williams.

The four were arraigned later Thursday before Magisterial District Judge Daniel C. DeAntonio.

Pezzuti faces felony charges of criminal attempt criminal homicide, criminal attempt aggravated assault, aggravated assault, discharge of a firearm into an occupied structure, criminal use of a communication facility and firearms not to be carried without a license, along with misdemeanor charges of possession of a weapon, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, disorderly conduct engage in fighting, disorderly conduct hazardous offense and discharge of firearms.

Unable to post 10% of $100,000 bail, Pezzuti was remanded to the Blair County Prison.

Whitaker faces felony charges of conspiracy criminal homicide, aggravated assault with extreme indifference, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, discharge of a firearm into an occupied structure, criminal use of a communication facility and firearms not to be carried without a license, along with misdemeanor charges of possession of a weapon, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, disorderly conduct engage in fighting and disorderly conduct hazardous offense.

Whitaker was released on unsecured $100,000 bail.

Williams faces felony charges of criminal attempt criminal homicide, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault with extreme indifference, discharge of a firearm into an occupied structure, criminal use of a communication facility and firearms not to be carried without a license, along with misdemeanor charges of possession of a weapon, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, disorderly conduct engage in fighting and disorderly conduct hazardous offense.

Unable to post $150,000 bail, Williams was remanded to the Blair County Prison.

Rodgers faces 27 charges, including felony charges of aggravated assault with extreme indifference and eight misdemeanor charges of simple assault, four counts of recklessly endangering another person, possession of a weapon, disorderly conduct engage in fighting and disorderly conduct hazardous offense.

Rodgers was released on $50,000 unsecured bail.

All four face preliminary hearings Feb. 14 before DeAntonio, according to online court documents.

Williams

There is an active arrest warrant for Stehley charging him with criminal conspiracy attempted homicide, police stated. Court documents outlining his charges were unavailable. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call 814-949-2490 or message Altoona police via Facebook.
