A city man is behind bars after allegedly threatening to burn down an occupied house and smashing windows out of a victim's vehicle.
Amedeo Luciana Perini, 31, was arraigned Friday before Magisterial District Judge Benjamin F. Jones on felony charges of arson and aggravated assault, along with misdemeanor charges of terroristic threats, simple assault, criminal mischief, reckless endangering another person and disorderly conduct and a summary harassment charge.
Unable to post $100,000, he was remanded to the Blair County Prison. His preliminary hearing is set for Feb. 14 before Magisterial District Judge Daniel C. DeAntonio.
According to court documents, Perini was at a residence on the 300 block of First Street when he picked up a gas can and poured gas on the house, stating "What do you want me to do, burn it to the ground?"
A male victim smacked the can of gas out of Perini's hand, causing some gas to splash on Perini's face, making him "even more angry," court documents state. At that point, he pulled out a switchblade knife and swiped at the victim. He then picked up a hammer and also swiped that at the victim, the report states.
Perini then used the hammer to smash out the back window as well as the back driver's side window on the victim's Ford Fusion, police reported.
When a female in the house went outside, Perini pushed her into a door and yelled for the male victim to come out and fight. Other people in the home corroborated the male victim's account, court documents state, with one female stating her 9-month-old child was in the home when Perini was pouring gas on the house.
Police found Perini on the 1500 block of 11th Avenue and took him into custody. A search incident to arrest turned up two folding knives, police reported.
