City man charged in drug investigation
A city man is behind bars after allegedly exchanging drugs and cash for flooring materials.
According to court documents, Altoona police and the Blair County Drug Task Force conducted an investigation into the drug trafficking of heroin by Travis Blake Pfahler, 35, in Altoona.
On Monday, a confidential informant was told by Pfahler to steal specific flooring from Lowe’s and Pfahler would trade the drugs for the flooring, the report states.
Police said that particular flooring cost nearly $70 per box and in total, Pfahler wanted about $3,500 worth of flooring and in return would provide the CI with three to 10 bricks of fentanyl.
Police purchased 22 boxes of the flooring from Lowe’s and met with the CI, who placed a call to Pfahler to make the trade at a location on the 900 block of Second Avenue.
Officers converged on the home after Pfahler took possession of a box of flooring, the report states.
The CI turned over $300 and three bricks of fentanyl that the CI was given by Pfahler for the flooring.
Officers from the Altoona Police Department Narcotics Unit applied for and received a search warrant for a 2018 Dodge Ram Pickup truck and the Second Avenue residence, court documents state.
The search warrant turned up $2,900, 138 packets of suspected heroin, an “owe” sheet and two cellphones.
Pfahler was arraigned Tuesday before Magisterial District Judge Andrew L. Blattenberger on felony charges of possession with intent to deliver and criminal use of a communication facility, along with a misdemeanor charge of possession of a controlled substance.
Unable to post $200,000 bail, he was remanded to the Blair County Prison. His preliminary hearing is set for Feb. 7 before Magisterial District Judge Daniel C. DeAntonio.
