Spring Cove appoints board president

Fellow members approve Wright unanimously

ROARING SPRING — Longtime board member Troy Wright was appointed Spring Cove School Board president during Monday’s reorganizational meeting.

Wright ran unopposed and was unanimously approved by the other eight board members.

He takes over the position from former board member Brian Gahagan, who was defeated in the November elections after nine years of service.

Wright was elected for his third term last month.

A 1995 graduate of Central High School, Wright earned a bachelor’s degree in criminology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He has one son still in the district and another who graduated in 2022.

A former Altoona police officer, Wright now works as the director of campus safety/chief of police at Mount Aloysius College in Cresson.
