Man allegedly stole vehicle, smuggled meth into prison

From Mirror staff reports

A Bedford man arrested for driving a stolen vehicle faces more charges after he allegedly had drugs in the Bedford County Correctional Facility.

State police looking for a stolen vehicle found Antonio Dale Logsdon, 30, driving the car north on business Route 220 at 3:43 p.m. Oct 27. Police conducted a traffic stop on the I-99 on ramp and during a search, found a syringe in Logsdon’s pocket. Logsdon and his passenger were taken to the Bedford state police barracks where Logsdon claimed he was called to pick up the car then changed his story to say he was picked up in the vehicle and taken to a New Baltimore residence, court documents state.

He told police that after the woman who picked him up didn’t return, he took her car and picked up the passenger. The two stopped at Sheetz to get gas and were then pulled over, Logsdon told police.

The passenger told police Logsdon asked if he wanted to go for a ride and that the two stopped for gas before being pulled over. The passenger said he didn’t know why they were arrested and didn’t know the car was stolen.

In the stolen vehicle case, Logsdon was arraigned Thursday before Magisterial District Judge Kevin R. Diehl in Bedford County on a felony charge of receiving stolen property, a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia and a summary charge of driving with a suspended license. Unable to post $10,000 bail, he was remanded to the Bedford County Correctional Facility.

Later on the night of Oct. 27, police were dispatched to the Bedford County jail for an inmate found to be in possession of methamphetamine. In an interview with police, Logsdon said he didn’t realize the meth was still in his wallet when he was brought to the facility and didn’t intend to smuggle drugs into the jail, the report states.

He was arraigned in that case also on Thursday before Diehl on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance contraband by an inmate and a misdemeanor charge of possession of a controlled substance. Bail was set at $25,000 and he was returned to the county jail.

His preliminary hearings in both cases are set for Dec. 20 before Diehl.

Starting at $2.99/week.
