An East Freedom man already jailed for allegedly breaking into multiple storage units had another case filed against him in Blair County on Thursday.
Justin Keith Brunner, 29, was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Andrew L. Blattenberger on a felony charge of criminal trespassing and a summary charge each of criminal mischief, disorderly conduct, driving while operating privileges suspended or revoked, trespass and vehicle registration suspended.
Unable to post $100,000 bail, he was remanded to the Blair County Prison. His preliminary hearing is set for Dec. 28 in front of Blattenberger.
The charges stem from an investigation by Roaring Spring police officers, who were called to the Pine Heights storage sheds along the 7400 block of Woodbury Pike. The owner of the sheds said he noticed that the locks on some sheds were cut while others were missing.
He told officers that he watched the facility's security footage and saw a vehicle drive around to several units about 5:20 p.m.
Nov. 25, cutting the locks and removing items, court documents state.
Officers viewed the footage and were able to identify the vehicle.
The owner of the vehicle was eventually tracked down on Dec. 20. The owner told police that Justin Brunner borrowed his vehicle "about a month ago." When the vehicle was returned, he said that "nothing seemed out of sorts other than the gas was low."
Police then showed the owner a picture of the male taking items from the shed and the owner said Brunner "has a jacket that looks like that."
In an earlier case, Brunner faces felony charges of burglary and criminal trespass, along with misdemeanor charges of criminal mischief, possessing an instrument of crime, false identification, theft, possession of drug paraphernalia and obstruction of justice.
Those charges stem from an incident on Dec. 17 when a Freedom Township police officer found Brunner and a New Paris woman in a U-Haul at Best Rate Rental storage units along Johnstown Road, East Freedom.
Police reported that the pair gave officers false names, forcibly removed a lock from a unit and that Brunner had drug paraphernalia on his person.
