A Blair County Prison inmate awaiting trial escaped Sunday morning. He remained at large Sunday evening.
Isaiah Robert Tilghman, 33, of Philadelphia, was being held in the prison on drug-related offenses, as well as a state parole detainer, according to the Hollidaysburg Borough Police Department's Facebook page.
Details regarding Tilghman's manner of escape were not released.
Tilghman is facing new charges following his escape. According to online court documents, Tilghman is charged with one felony of escape, one felony of flight to avoid apprehension/trial/punishment, one misdemeanor of possession of instrument of crime with intent and one misdemeanor of institutional vandalism.
According to online court documents, Tilghman has faced similar charges dating back to 2016 in Centre County. He pleaded guilty to two felony counts of possession with intent to deliver and one count of fleeing or attempting to elude an officer and served his sentence in Blair County Prison. He was ordered to serve his sentences concurrently and faced a maximum of 20 years in total. It is unclear how long he was in prison before being released on parole.
In his most recent run-in with police, Tilghman was arrested in a drug bust at the Altoona Grand Hotel in May. Tilghman led police on a foot chase after he could not be located initially at the hotel before being captured and brought into custody. Police reportedly located a bag belonging to Tilghman that contained more than $100,000 in various drugs, including fentanyl, methamphetamine and cocaine.
Sixteen of the initial 23 charges Tilghman was facing were bound over for court in late August and he was awaiting trial for the drug-related offenses, according to online court documents.
Police are requesting the public to call 911 immediately if Tilghman is spotted and to not approach him.
