More information has been released about the investigation into drug and firearm trafficking activity in Blair County that culminated with a confidential informant overdosing during a controlled buy on Monday.
According to Logan Township police, the arrest of Stephen John Majoros III, 35, of Altoona, Breanna Breeze Turner, 26, of Altoona, and Edward J. Welsh, 42, of Claysburg, was a result of an ongoing narcotics investigation that began after police received information that Majoros was trafficking heroin, methamphetamine and firearms in the area.
The investigation ultimately led to a vehicle stop, Logan police reported on the department's Facebook page.
Through extensive investigation, a search warrant was compiled for Majoros' vehicle and motel room, which was executed by the Logan Township narcotics officers with the assistance of Blair County Drug Task Force officers.
As a result, officers seized 410 packets of heroin/fentanyl with a street value $6,150; 5.2 grams of fentanyl with a street value $2,000 and 2.9 grams methamphetamine valued at $300.
Narcotics officers later conducted a controlled purchase of heroin from Turner. As a result, officers took Turner into custody for possession with the intent to distribute narcotics. While taking Turner into custody, officers made contact with a male, later identified as Edward Welsh, in a vehicle that was occupied by Turner prior to contact.
When making contact, officers observed a large rock of crystal methamphetamine in plain view. Welsh was taken into custody, and the vehicle was impounded, pending a search warrant. Logan Township narcotics officers executed the search warrant of the vehicle and seized 450 packets of heroin with a street value $6,750, 8 grams of crystal methamphetamine with a street value $800 and 3 grams of fentanyl valued at $1,500.
All three are being charged with possession with intent to distribute narcotics, criminal use of a communication facility, possession of controlled substances and related charges.
The street value of all narcotics seized totaled $17,500. In addition, $2,583 in U.S. currency was also seized.
Majoros, Turner and Welsh are being held in the Blair County Prison awaiting preliminary hearings, police stated on the post.
