A New Enterprise man is behind bars after allegedly threatening to shoot another man and pointing a gun at him.
According to court documents, James Weaver, 19, is accused of making the threats at a youth volleyball event in Bedford County. Weaver was sitting in his truck when he pointed a rifle at the man on Aug. 23, although the incident wasn't reported to police until Sept. 11, according to the report.
The victim said he and another man were at a baseball field before the volleyball event and walked over to Weaver's truck to talk.
Weaver threatened the victim after he kept touching a light on the dash of Weaver's truck, with Weaver stating, "Don't be messing with my stuff, I'll shoot your ***," court documents state.
Weaver allegedly pulled out a rifle and pointed it at the victim's chest. The victim pushed the rifle away.
An investigation found Weaver has a rifle in his vehicle, but does not have a license to carry because he's under 21 years of age.
Weaver was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Brian Baker on
Oct. 19 on a felony charge of firearms not to be carried without a license and misdemeanor counts of terroristic threats, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.
Unable to post $75,000 bail, he was remanded to the Bedford County Correctional Facility, according to docket information.
His preliminary hearing is set for Nov. 1 in Bedford County Central Court.
