HOLLIDAYSBURG — The Blair County group planning local recognition of the nation’s 250th birthday in 2026 is seeking a name for its costumed mascot.

Blair County Controller A.C. Stickel, who is chairing the America250PA-Blair County Commission, is asking for suggested names to be submitted through the organization’s website at https://america250pablair.org before Oct. 25.

“You’ll be seeing a lot of our county’s mascot over the next three years, but the poor patriot doesn’t have a name,” Stickel said.

The winner of the naming contest is scheduled to be announced Nov. 11 at Veterans Plaza in Altoona, following the Veterans Day parade. The winner’s prize will be two all-day passes to DelGrosso’s Park for use in 2024.

Entrants are required to provide their name, email address and phone number.

Starting at $2.99/week.
