BEDFORD -- A Hopewell man who pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor count of simple assault was sentenced to four to 23 months in the Bedford County Correctional Facility.
Tyler Steven Frede, 31, initially faced one felony count of aggravated assault, one misdemeanor count each of simple assault and harassment and one summary count harassment.
The charges stemmed from a domestic dispute that occurred Aug. 13, 2023, when Frede struck the victim in the face five or six times with a closed fist, giving the victim a concussion and fracturing and an orbital bone in the face.
In handing down Frede's sentence, President Judge Travis Livengood also ordered Frede to pay a $200 fine, a DNA fee and to complete anger management counseling.
When given the opportunity to speak, Frede chose to remain silent.
