K9 Rik apprehends suspect who was fleeing from police

One of the last things someone attempting to flee from law enforcement wants is to be hounded by a four-legged officer, because they are sure to learn that their "bite" can be much worse than their bark.
That's what Altoona resident Kyle Lawrence Lasko, 32, discovered on Oct. 24, when deputies with the Blair County Sheriff's Office deployed Sheriff Deputy K9 Rik to apprehend him "after a short foot pursuit," the sheriff's office wrote in a release.
The incident began about 9:41 p.m. when officers attempted a traffic stop on Lasko, who was wanted on multiple outstanding felony warrants, according to the release. Lasko then allegedly fled from the officers at Sixth Ave. and 17th St. in Altoona, facing oncoming traffic. While fleeing, Lasko allegedly drove through private property, including sidewalks and yards, until his vehicle became disabled.
Lasko continued his flight on foot, ignoring verbal commands from officers to stop, "or he would be pursued by Sheriff K9," according to the release.
Following his capture, Lasko was taken to UPMC Altoona for precautionary evaluations before being logged in at the Blair County Prison.
Lasko, of Altoona, is facing one felony charge each of fleeing or attempting to elude officer and flight to avoid apprehension, one misdemeanor charge each of escape, evading arrest or detention on foot, recklessly endangering another person, disorderly conduct hazardous/physical offense as well as 10 summary traffic violations, court documents show.
It was reported that Lasko also fled from Logan Township Police earlier that same date, according to the press release.
