Johnstown man killed in Bedford County crash

A Johnstown man was killed in a crash about 6:10 a.m. Wednesday in Bedford County.

Bedford County Coroner Rusty Styer said Matthew Myers, 43, was killed in a head-on collision on Route 56, Quaker Valley Road, near the intersection with Rouzer Road near Pleasantville.

According to state police, Myers was driving a Jeep Liberty west on Route 56, crossed over into the eastbound lane and struck head-on a Dodge Ram 1500 driven by Derik Hileman, 32, of Johnstown.

The impact caused the Jeep to spin 180 degrees, police reported. Myers was extricated from the vehicle by the Alum Bank Fire Company and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Hileman suffered moderate injuries and was transported to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown, by Chestnut Ridge Ambulance, the report states.
