New information is being sought as state police continue to investigate the 1977 homicide of a 16-year-old Bellwood-Antis High School student, Crime Stoppers announced this week.
Nicholas Grassmyer was a junior at Bellwood-
Antis when he was reported missing 46 years ago.
On Sept. 9, 1977, he played halfback in a victorious game against Tyrone, then went to visit his girlfriend. He called his parents a little after midnight, saying he had car trouble and would be walking home. He was last seen walking along Route 865 out of Bellwood toward Route 220. He failed to return home and was reported missing. A few days later, on Sept. 11, his body was found off Route 859, about six miles from his home.
An autopsy determined that Grassmyer died of a fractured skull and the coroner ruled his death a homicide.
