A Hollidaysburg woman was found dead inside a vehicle submerged in a Virginia lake recently.
Jean Cecilia Lester, 79, was found Saturday, Sept. 16, inside a Jeep Grand Cherokee that was submerged in about 12 feet of water at Claytor Lake State Park, according to the Roanoke Times.
About 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, a fisherman notified a Claytor Lake State Park ranger of what appeared to be a vehicle fully submerged in the lake near picnic shelter No. 2 in the picnic/day use area of the park, according to a news release from the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation.
Park rangers, Pulaski County sheriff's deputies and first responders were called in to assist with the recovery of the vehicle.
When divers entered the water, they found the Jeep with Lester's body inside the vehicle, according to news reports.
The investigation is ongoing, said Scott Vantrease, chief of Public Safety & Law Enforcement for the Virginia DCR.
"At this time, our lead investigators have no evidence to suspect foul play," he stated last week.
