A 43-year-old Altoona man is in Blair County Prison unable to post $400,000 cash bail after being charged with rape of an unconscious woman and other counts.
Robert Jason German was arraigned Friday by Magisterial District Judge Andrew L. Blattenberger on first-degree felony rape of an unconscious person, second-degree felony counts of sexual assault and aggravated assault without consent and first-degree misdemeanor indecent assault of a person unconscious.
Police responded on March 19 to the victim's residence to find her sitting on the floor crying, telling officers she might have been raped. Her mother told police she couldn't recall many events from the previous hours.
The rape allegedly occurred after the victim and two females went to the Kettle Inn, where they met up with two men. The victim said she bought the first round of drinks for the table, then sensed something was wrong. After another round of drinks, the next thing the victim remembers is waking up 10 hours later naked with a Black man standing beside her bed. The man placed about $300 on her night stand, saying it was for her and he knew she needed the money.
On March 20, the victim told police she thought one of the females set her up to help her get over her ex-boyfriend.
