The six Kentucky rifles that were recently returned to Baker Mansion after going missing 50 years ago will be on display for one day only, Sunday, Aug. 20. The event will begin at 1 p.m. with a brief ceremony and program, followed by the unveiling of the weapons at 1:30 p.m. The 46th Pennsylvania Regiment Civil War Reenactment Band will perform at 2 p.m. as part of the Sunday on the Lawn series. The display and concert are free of charge.
The rifles were among items stolen in a 1973 burglary, recovered by the Upper Merion Police Department and the FBI and returned to Blair County earlier this year.
Law enforcement officials involved in the investigation, recovery and repatriation of the stolen items will be on hand for the event.
After the Sunday events, the rifles will be returned to secure, off-site storage, according to a news release.
The Baker Mansion History Museum will be open for tours from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with the last tour beginning at 1:30 p.m. Admission to the museum is $10 for adults, $5 for children 4 to 12 and free to children 3 and younger.
