Firework displays scheduled around region for July Fourth celebrations

Hundreds of fireworks will light up the night sky Tuesday night as the region celebrates Independence Day. Planned fireworks displays include:

DelGrosso’s Park

Red, White & You … A Salute to America’s Workforce is the theme for the Summer Thunder fireworks show at DelGrosso’s Park, slated to begin about 10 p.m. Tuesday, July 4.

A musical preshow begins at 9 p.m. Those attending the event should tune radios to 98.1 FM.

The park will have special Fourth of July hours, with the water park open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and water side food stands open until 10 p.m.

Park rides and food stands will be open from noon to 11:30 p.m.; rides will be closed during the fireworks, and several rides and food stands will reopen after the show.

Lakemont Park

Lakemont Park will be open from 3 to 10 p.m. Tuesday, July 4. Rides will close at 9:45 p.m. and fireworks are set to begin at 10 p.m. Entertainment includes The Pines live on stage from 5 to 7 p.m. and Bone Jacked from 7 to 10 p.m.

Food trucks will offer food, drinks and snacks.

Altoona Curve

The Curve take on the Erie SeaWolves at 6 p.m. The Independence Day Celebration includes patriotic-themed postgame fireworks. The Curve will take the field in patriotic specialty jerseys, which will be auctioned off via LiveSource.

Bedford Riverfront celebration

A cornhole tournament and fireworks celebration will be held at Fort Bedford Riverfront Park in Bedford. The celebration will be held from 3 to 10 p.m. and includes food trucks, entertainment, the cornhole tournament and fireworks. The Johnstown Symphony Brass Quintet will entertain from 3:30 to 4 p.m. The cornhole tournament begins at 4 p.m. Matt Otis and the Sound will present a concert from 6 to 9 p.m., followed by the Bedford Symphony from 9 to 9:40 p.m. Fireworks will begin at dark.

Morrisons Cove Carnival

There will not be fireworks in Martinsburg on July 4. The J4 Celebration, renamed the Cove Carnival, will be held July 11-15. The event will feature the Agricultural Parade at 6 p.m.

July 11. Fireworks will be held at 10 p.m. July 12 and July 15. The pool will be open both of those nights for the Fireworks Swim. Carnival rides, games and food booths will be open each night, with tractor pulls set for July 13.
