Mirror staff members were recognized by the Pennsylvania Newspaper Association and the Western Pennsylvania Press Club this week.
The Mirror won four Golden Quill awards presented by the Western PA Press Club during a dinner at the Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh on Tuesday night.
The recipients included News Editor Holly Claycomb (news feature), reporters Cati Keith (history/culture) and Bill Kibler (medical/health), and the Mirror staff won for investigative-enterprise team reporting on its series about the area's opioid crisis.
In addition to the winners, the Mirror's Golden Quill finalists included Keith (arts-entertainment), Michael Boytim (sports coverage, profile, lifestyle), Nate Powles (education), Rachel Foor (education) and the Mirror's video sports team of Boytim, Scott Franco, Andy Stine and Dan Isenberg.
The Pennsylvania Newspaper Association announced its winners on Thursday.
Franco won first place for sports headline writing, graphic artist Nick Anna won first place for graphic-
photo illustration, Boytim won honorable mention for sports enterprise and sports breaking news-event coverage, and Managing Editor Neil Rudel won honorable mention in the personality profile category.
The PNA winners will be recognized at the PNA awards luncheon in Harrisburg on Nov. 1.
