Trio faces charges in fentanyl case

Addleman accused of breaking into police impound for more drugs

CLEARFIELD -- One of three people found with several blocks of fentanyl has also been charged with breaking into police impound lots to obtain other drugs.

On Wednesday, a Clearfield Regional Police officer spotted Clint Al Addleman, 46, of Morrisdale, and Bradley Maines, 46, Woodland, and a female walking across a convenience store parking lot in Lawrence Township.

After discovering Maines had an active warrant, the officer followed their vehicle as it left the lot and initiated a traffic stop on the I-80 eastbound on-ramp.

Addleman was the driver and Maines, a passenger, was informed about his warrants. During this time, the officer noticed a bag sitting suspiciously on the center armrest where he felt it was not secure. Later it was found to contain "numerous large blocks, yellow, blue and pink in color, suspected to be a large amount of fentanyl."

The female identified as Kaitlyn Evans, 31, of Morrisdale, also had warrants.

In the backseat where she had been sitting, officers located a backpack that had a plastic container with white residue and $124 in cash. In a makeup bag, they found drug paraphernalia, pills suspected to be Xanax, three containers and a glass vial with suspected fentanyl and $990 in cash, according to the report.

Addleman's phone reportedly contained messages related to suspected drug activity. A photo on the phone showed a large amount of cash, which appeared to be over $50,000, which Addleman claimed was from the sale of his house.

Each of them is charged with two felony counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, misdemeanor intentional possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

They are being held in the county jail in lieu of $250,000 bail each with preliminary hearings scheduled for Wednesday.

Addleman is facing additional charges for suspected criminal activity.

In January, Addleman allegedly broke into the state police impound lot in Woodland and got into the trunk of a vehicle being held for a pending search warrant.

According to that affidavit, a corporal was taking out the trash when he noticed the trunk of a vehicle in the impound lot was ajar with physical damage. A chain link fence in the back of the lot had been cut.

Later, someone reportedly tipped off police that it was Addleman who had gotten into the lot, broke into the vehicle and removed 2 pounds of methamphetamine, 5 or 6 ounces of cocaine and 10 grams of fentanyl. Police say additional witnesses confirmed this story.

For this, he was charged just this week with two felony counts of criminal trespass, misdemeanor tampering with evidence and institutional vandalism. No bail was set in this case. The preliminary hearing is also scheduled for Wednesday.

It was mentioned in that affidavit that he also broke into an impound lot in Clearfield Borough on Feb. 12.

A police report in this case indicates Addleman and an accomplice tried to remove controlled substances from a vehicle that had already been searched.

On Thursday, Clearfield Regional Police charged him with felony counts of conspiracy to burglary, conspiracy to criminal trespass, misdemeanor conspiracy to defiant trespass, conspiracy to theft by unlawful taking and conspiracy to receiving stolen property in relation to this break in. He is being held without bail.

His former drug activity includes a case from March 2020, when Addleman allegedly sold a confidential informant 4.8 grams of methamphetamine.

In this case, he was charged on Wednesday with felony counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and criminal use of a communication facility. No bail was set in this case but a preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.
