Computer manufacturing firm headed to Splinters location

Computer parts will be made in Logan Township once a former bowling alley is splintered.
Blair County Planning Commission members gave a favorable review to a plan by DTJ Corp. to construct an 18,000-square-foot building for computer parts manufacturing, warehouse space and associated office space at the site of the former Splinters Lane. The proposal also includes parking lot and stormwater management improvements as well as demolition of the Splinters building.
Splinters closed on Nov. 5, 2021, when owner Nancy Taylor announced she was selling the building.
Access to the site will be via an improved 24-foot bidirectional drive off Pleasant Valley Boulevard, said MacKenize Caron, community planner.
The proposed parking will include 33 standard paved parking spaces and two accessible spaces.
"We recommend the inclusion of bicycle parking for employees or patrons who may choose to utilize alternative modes of travel," Caron said.
No landscaping plans were provided, but the site plan included removal and replacement of excess existing bituminous pavement to be reseeded with grass, Caron said.
The proposal does not show any sidewalks but board member Herb Shelow recommended that sidewalks be included along the boulevard at the site.
Workers have been at the site removing trees on the property.
