A South Fork man is being held in Cambria County Prison on charges of killing a 55-year-old Altoona man, according to published reports.

Cambria County District Attorney Greg Neugebauer and Cambria County Coroner Jeff Lees said in a release that Austin Kline, 22, of South Fork, faces charges of criminal homicide, aggravated assault, tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse.

Kline is accused of killing Richard Morgan, who was found dead at Kline’s home just before 10 p.m. Friday on the 700 block of Lake Street in South Fork.

The release said that Morgan died from multiple gunshot wounds and bludgeoning from an assault and that his death was officially ruled a homicide.

Kline allegedly admitted to the killing when police arrived at his residence, according to state police in published reports.

Morgan was reported missing by his son Thursday.

Troopers say they identified Kline as a suspect and found the victim dead.

“This was a senseless taking of a life,” Neugebauer and Lees said. “The family of Mr. Morgan quickly contacted authorities when their loved one was missing, which enabled law enforcement to mobilize and begin an intensive investigation, and our thoughts and prayers are with them during this difficult time.”

The investigation is ongoing.
