Three Bedford County men face charges for allegedly breaking into multiple storage units and stealing the contents.
Matthew Robert Sabo, 29, of New Paris; Kaleb Michael Crawley, 29, of Bedford; and Dustin Eugene Kinser, 33, of New Enterprise, each face nearly two dozen charges after police investigating the thefts were told Sabo asked for help removing items from the units.
According to the affidavits of probable cause, state police responded Nov. 19 to Red Maple Storage in Schellsburg for the report of multiple storage units that had locks cut and removed. Various items of property were stolen from within several of the units, including a storage tote of Nascar collectibles valued at $200, a home heating transformer valued at $50 and a PlayStation 2 console valued at $150. Police said while only stolen property could be confirmed by two victims, locks were cut and removed from four units.
Police said, in recorded interviews with Sabo, Kinser and Crawley, that Kinser and Crawley said Sabo asked them to help remove property from the storage units. Police said Sabo never rented a storage unit from the facility and had no right or reason to enter any unit.
Sabo and Crawley were arraigned Friday before Magisterial District Judge Kevin R. Diehl on four felony charges each of burglary and criminal trespass along with four misdemeanor charges each of theft and receiving stolen property and four summary charges of criminal mischief.
Neither were able to post $200,000 bail and they were remanded to the Bedford County Correctional Facility. Their preliminary hearings are set for March 15 in Bedford County Central Court.
Kinser, who faces the same charges, has yet to be arraigned, according to online court documents.
