Wind whipped flames from a garage fire at 522 Powder Mill Road, Frankstown Township, caught a second garage on fire and damaged the siding of nearby homes, said Geeseytown Community Fire Company Chief Dennis Estep.

Firefighters were called to the blaze at 8:01 p.m. Wednesday to find one garage fully engulfed and debris igniting a second structure. According to 911 dispatch, explosions were also heard.

Estep said both the original garage and a neighbor's garage were destroyed, but firefighters were able to save nearby homes that sustained some damage, namely melted siding.

The cause of the fire was unknown, he said, and the fire marshal is expected to investigate the scene today.

No injuries were reported.

Geeseytown was joined by Hollidaysburg, Lakemont, Duncansville, Allegheny Township and Williamsburg fire companies, along with Hollidaysburg American Legion Ambulance Service.
