Tyrone police see uptick in calls
The Tyrone Borough Police Department responded to 4,423 calls for service in 2022. That’s 699 more calls than in 2021, according to yearly statistics released on the department’s Facebook page.
Tyrone officers also logged 289 criminal arrests, 90 non-traffic citations and 197 traffic citations, and handled 541 incident reports and 97 crash investigations.
In addition, Tyrone police made 554 traffic stops, 25 DUI arrests and 98 drug-related arrests.
Other types of calls police handled in 2022 included 300 disturbances; 367 crimes, such as thefts, criminal mischiefs and assaults; 161 domestic incidents; 17 fires, including structure, car and brush fires and 485 suspicious person and/or suspicious vehicle calls.
Officers made 51 welfare checks and answered seven weapons calls, along with 145 warrant-related calls and 53 Protection From-Abuse-related calls.
There were 37 missing person/missing juvenile calls, 191 traffic complaints and 127 animal-related calls.
Tyrone officers assisted EMS 80 times and other agencies 50 times during 2022. Officers also responded to 83 alarms.
