Peoples gas rates set to decrease

Customers likely to pay about $11 less per month

Customers of Peoples Natural Gas will pay less for their gas beginning Sunday, Jan 1.

Effective New Year’s Day, the quarterly adjusted cost recovery rate will decrease from $8.88 per thousand cubic feet to $7.52 per mcf, said Carol Scalon, Peoples manager of rates.

With the decrease, the average residential customer who uses 87,000 cubic feet per year, or 7.3 mcf per month, will see a monthly bill decrease from $118 to $107, Scanlon said.

“The reason for the decrease is due to market prices being down. The commodity gas cost is a straight dollar-for-dollar pass through from Peoples to the customers,” Scanlon said.

Peoples serves about 31,200 customers in Blair County.

Starting at $2.99/week.
