State police are investigating after a home intruder was shot and killed by a 72-year-old Saxton man early Saturday morning.
Dakota Lance Hall, 22, of Huntingdon was killed during the 3:16 a.m. incident, state police reported.
According to a police report, officers responded to a residence on Shoups Branch Road, Liberty Township, for a reported home invasion and assault in progress, which was being monitored by Bedford County 911. The 911 call was disconnected and when contact was reestablished with the homeowner, it was reported that gunshots were fired.
State police reported that the homeowner fired one round, striking Hall, who died at the scene.
The homeowner was transported to UPMC Bedford for treatment of injuries suffered in the assault, according to police.
