United Express flights from the John Murtha Johnstown-Cambria County Airport to the Chicago O'Hare International Airport will no longer include a stop at Clarksburg, W.Va., airport officials announced.
SkyWest Airlines Inc., operator of United Express service at the airport, added the Clarksburg stop in April, when a pilot shortage impacted the regional airline industry.
Since Clarksburg was awarded a different Essential Air Service airline contract, the Johnstown to Chicago route will return to a nonstop roundtrip jet service. United Airlines offers 433 daily flights from Chicago O'Hare to 169 destinations in December.
Flights from the Johnstown airport are also offered nonstop to Washington Dulles International Airport, where United offers 185 daily flights to 95 destinations.
"We are excited that SkyWest Airlines is eliminating the stop in Clarksburg and is returning to providing nonstop roundtrip jet service to both Washington Dulles and Chicago O'Hare," said Cory Cree, airport manager.
