Altoona police are searching for a city man who allegedly stole a vehicle.
Travis James Pfahler, 36, is wanted by the Altoona Police Department for an incident that occurred about 6 a.m. Monday when a vehicle warming up outside a resident's home was stolen.
Police located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop on Fairview Drive at South 27th Street. Pfahler parked the vehicle at the rear of the Logan Hills Apartment complex and fled on foot into a wooded area between Fairway Drive and I-99, according to police.
Pfahler, who was last seen by several witnesses crossing I-99 toward Peoples Natural Gas Field, is described as a white male, about 6 feet tall, weighing 200 pounds with dirty blonde hair and hazel eyes. He was last seen wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, dark shorts, boots and a blue ball cap.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call 911, contact APD or send a private message to the police department through its Facebook page.
According to court documents, Pfahler faces felony charges of theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and escape, along with misdemeanor charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, theft by unlawful taking, driving while license is suspended, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
