Two city residents face charges after a traffic stop on Tuesday turned up drugs and drug paraphernalia, according to police reports.
Logan Township police conducted a traffic stop at 17th Street and Van Buren Avenue about 6:49 a.m. on a blue Chevrolet Silverado operated by Troy McKee after noting the center brake light wasn't working, McKee failed to use a turn signal to merge into traffic and the window tint on the truck was after-market on the front driver and passenger windows.
When making contact with McKee, the officer observed a small zip bag containing suspected methamphetamine. Two females, including Kayla Risbon, were also in the truck, police reported.
In addition, police could see multiple knives in the vehicle, and McKee was taken into custody for simple possession. During a pat down, brass knuckles were found in his pant's pocket, police said.
Other officers on scene removed everyone from the vehicle and Risbon was taken into custody when it was discovered she had an outstanding warrant through the Blair County Sheriff's Office.
K-9 Getro alerted on the driver's side of the vehicle. The vehicle was impounded, and a search warrant was secured, court records state.
During a search of the vehicle, 48 blue stamp bags packed in a mini zip bags were found, along with a plastic bag containing 2 grams of suspected raw heroin, a zip bag containing about 2.84 grams of suspected methamphetamine, two digital scales, a box of unused blue wax papers, a sandwich bag of unused blue wax papers, brass knuckles, three cellphones, three bags containing a small amount of marijuana, cellophane containing a mushroom cap, three stamp bags containing heroin, two mini zip bags with a small amount of methamphetamine, one oxycodone hydrochloride 5 mg pill, one pragabalin 200 mg pill, four white round pills marked "IV 305," four white/yellow capsules marked "30 mgT" and other various paraphernalia.
When a deputy conducted a search of Risbon, suspected heroin was found on her person.
McKee, 39, was arraigned Tuesday before Magisterial District Judge Matthew Dunio on four felony drug charges and five related misdemeanor charges. Unable to post $50,000 bail, he was remanded to the Blair County Prison. His preliminary hearing is set for Sept. 15 before Dunio.
