HARRISBURG -- Blair and surrounding counties are among 64 receiving Election Integrity Grant Program funds, the Department of Community and Economic Development said.
Under Act 88 of 2022, DCED was tasked with establishing the program to provide grants to counties for the administration of elections. Funding amounts were based on the number of registered voters within the county in the previous primary election.
Awards to area counties are:
* Bedford -- $167,828
* Blair -- $398,914
* Cambria -- $440,358.
* Centre --$540,984.
* Clearfield -- $247,653.
* Huntingdon -- $144,881.
* Somerset -- $249,707.
Bradford, Crawford, Montour and Susquehanna counties did not seek funds.
Eligible uses of the EIGP funds include:
* Costs of county board of election duties related to processing of voter registration applications.
* Payment of staff at polling places on election day and for staff needed to precanvass and canvass mail-in ballots and absentee ballots.
* Physical security and transparency costs for centralized precanvassing and canvassing. Secure preparation, transportation, storage and management of voting apparatuses, tabulation equipment and required polling place materials.
* Printing of ballots.
* Training costs for district election officials.
