Altoona City Fire Captain Cam Sunderland takes his turn with the hose inside the Pennsylvania Fire Academy Flashover Simulator set up for a training session at the Jaffa Shrine on Friday morning. The simulator provides the ability to show firefighters the development of a fire through a flashover, where all of the contents and gases of a room auto-ignite almost instantaneously, and to teach firefighters the warning signs of and the ways they can survive an impending flashover. Also participating were volunteer firefighters from Logan Township and Freedom Township.
