Crash claims two in Clearfield
Head-on collision kills driver, female passenger in other vehicle
Two people were killed in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday morning in Boggs Township, Clearfield.
According to state police, the crash occurred just before 10 a.m. on Crooked Sewer Road, just south of Jericho Lane, when the driver of a southbound 2013 Chevrolet Captiva crossed over the center lane and struck head-on a 2018 Nissan Rogue traveling north.
The driver of the Nissan, a 78-year-old male from Brisbin, attempted to avoid the collision by traveling onto the berm of the road, police reported.
A 68-year-old female passenger, also of Brisbin, was killed. The driver was taken by Stat Medevac to UPMC Altoona for treatment of suspected serious injuries.
The driver of the Chevrolet, a 69-year-old female from Madera, was also killed in the crash, police reported.
The road was closed for about two hours as the scene was cleared and police investigated the accident.
Names of the victims were withheld pending the notification of their families.
