A Pittsburgh man faces charges after he allegedly fled local police.
Brian Anthony Ray II, 34, was arraigned Thursday before Magisterial District Judge Benjamin F. Jones on a felony charge of flight to avoid apprehension, as well as misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police conducted a traffic stop April 29 on a vehicle due to its state inspection being expired.
Upon making contact with Ray, the driver, police smelled a strong odor of marijuana.
According to a criminal complaint, Ray had a lit blunt in his hand at the time and was visibly nervous.
The officer asked Ray to step out of and place his hands on the vehicle.
Ray exited the vehicle but continued to exhibit nervous behavior. Ray fled on foot and stumbled into traffic on Union Avenue before he was detained.
Later searched, Ray was found to be in possession of suspected marijuana and suspected cocaine. Three separate bags of marijuana were also recovered from Ray's jacket.
A check revealed Ray had multiple warrants for his arrest, including one for robbery out of Altoona, as well as a probation warrant out of Allegheny County for a firearm offense.
Ray was unable to post $25,000 cash bail and was remanded to the Blair County Prison.
He is scheduled to appear before Jones for a preliminary hearing May 11.
