The Altoona Community Theatre has announced the winners from the 2022 Isaac Awards held this weekend at the Mishler Theatre, which gathered students from 19 schools in a six-county area.
Ava Adams of Bishop Guilfoyle High School is the recipient of The Steven C. Helsel Legacy Scholarship, which is awarded to a graduating senior who has been actively involved in some capacity with ACT.
College scholarships totaling more than $50,000 were awarded through the generosity of title sponsor Reliance Bank and others, and from area post-secondary institutions:
Mount Aloysius College: Ivy Reed, Philipsburg-Osceola High School;
Penn State Altoona: Parker Cook and Jacey Kutz, Altoona Area High School; Blane Davidson, Bishop Guilfoyle High School; Ryan Patterson and Isabella Rhoades, Tyrone Area High School
Juniata College: William Secriskey, Altoona Area High School
During the school year, two panels of judges from ACT view the schools' musicals and determine the nominations in a variety of categories. Due to the number of schools participating, the awards take place over two nights, and two equal winners are announced for each category.
