Woman allegedly threatened officer

Barker told police she practices ‘witch’ activities, the affidavit states

A Williamsburg woman faces charges after she allegedly threatened to use “white witchery” on a police officer.

Celestia R. Barker III, 74, was arraigned Friday before Magisterial District Judge Benjamin F. Jones on a felony charge of threatening unlawful harm to influence the judicial process after she called police March 27 and threatened the officer handling her grandson’s case, court documents state.

She also faces a misdemeanor count of communications with 911, three summary counts of harassment and one summary count of disorderly conduct.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, Barker called the Hollidaysburg Police Department and asked to speak to the officer handling Scott Baker’s case. Scott Baker, Barker’s grandson, is facing felony and misdemeanor charges in a drug case.

Celestia Barker asked the officer if he “had it in his heart” to drop the felony drug charges against her grandson, court documents state. When the officer said he hadn’t given it any thought, Barker told the officer that she practices “witch” activities and that he would be in jeopardy if he didn’t drop the felony charges against her grandson, the affidavit states.

Court documents state that Barker said she would do “white witchery” and the officer better be careful going down the steps because someone might be behind him pushing him or he might be in a car accident.

Barker was advised that threatening an officer is a crime, but she claimed she wasn’t threatening him just making statements.

The officer ended the conversation by hanging up on Barker, court records state, but the police department received seven calls from a cellphone belonging to Barker.

Barker also called Blair County 911 the next day asking for the officer and making similar statements to dispatchers, according to reports. Dispatchers contacted police when Barker called and spoke for more than 23 minutes, court records state. Dispatchers said they could not transfer the call due to the line she called in on and they were unable to interrupt her. She also called the 911 dispatch center twice more looking for the officer, the report states.

When contacted by state police investigating the threats on the officer, Barker said she was not threatening the officer, she was just giving him an ultimatum just like he gave her grandson, police reported.

The investigating officer asked Barker about the phone calls requesting the Hollidaysburg officer to drop the charges against her grandson and Barker asked if there was a law against that, the report states. The officer told her that there was a law against that, to which she told the investigating officer, “Well, I did.” She then told the investigating officer that she has special powers that most people do not have and she can work “white witchery.”

Unsecured bail was set at $10,000, and Barker is scheduled to appear before Magisterial District Judge Paula M. Aigner for a preliminary hearing April 26.
