An Altoona resident wanted on charges related to a shooting in the city has been arrested in New Jersey, the Altoona Police Department posted on its Facebook page Thursday morning.

Tyan Tyreek Jenkins, 19, was arrested Wednesday night on an outstanding felony APD warrant for his alleged involvement in a March 19 shooting near Seventh Street and Third Avenue.

Multiple Altoona police officers responded to a report of shots fired about 9 p.m. March 19, police reported.

The criminal investigations division interviewed multiple witnesses, obtained outdoor surveillance footage and identified Jenkins as suspected of firing multiple rounds into a residence of the 700 block of Third Avenue before fleeing in a vehicle, police reported.

According to court documents, Jenkins is awaiting a preliminary hearing on two felony charges of aggravated assault — attempts to cause serious bodily injury or causes injury with extreme indifference, two felony charges of aggravated assault — attempts to cause or causes bodily injury with a deadly weapon, six felony charges of discharging a firearm into an occupied structure, a felony charge of firearms not be carried without a license, eight misdemeanor charges of recklessly endangering another person, two misdemeanor charges of simple assault, two misdemeanor charges of harassment, a misdemeanor charge of person not to possess/use a firearm-fugitive and a summary charge of disorderly conduct hazardous/physical offense.

According to Altoona police, New Jersey State Police conducted a vehicle stop in which Jenkins was taken into custody. He was also accompanied by a reported juvenile runaway from Altoona, police said.

Jenkins is being held in New Jersey awaiting transport back to Blair County, police said.
