Sheriff arrests 1; 5 others sought
The Blair County Sheriff's Office has apprehended one of six individuals posted on its Facebook page as being sought on arrest warrants.
Melissa Karns, 45, was taken into custody with the assistance of Bellwood police, the sheriff's office said on its page, after posting photographs, names, birth dates and a brief description of each warrant Wednesday.
Those sought included:
* Gareth Baker, 36, wanted on multiple warrants.
* Donavin Oschea, 31, multiple warrants.
* Anthony Bialek, 51, felony warrant.
* Britney McConnell, 20, felony warrant.
* Jonathan Sprankle, 27, multiple felony warrants
Anyone with information will remain anonymous and is asked to contact the Blair County Sheriff's Office Warrant Tip Line at 814-330-1466 by text or call. Blair County 911 at the non-emergency number of 814-940-5921 can also be contacted.
Police warn that if anyone does see the individuals listed above to not approach them.
Man held in attempted burglary
A Roaring Spring man was arrested Tuesday evening after he allegedly attempted to burglarize an East Freedom residence.
George Caple, 24, was arraigned Wednesday before Magisterial Judge Andrew L. Blattenberger on a felony charge of criminal attempted burglary, as well as misdemeanor counts of resisting arrest, simple assault and disorderly conduct.
Police said the incident occurred Tuesday, when Caple allegedly returned to a Redmen Court residence that he had been kicked out of during a party, attempted to enter the residence and damaged a screen door and window.
Police also accused Caple of being under the influence of alcohol and an unspecified controlled substance and that he injured an arresting officer, cutting the officer's hand with an unknown object as he was being placed into custody.
Caple was unable to post $60,000 bail and was remanded to the Blair County Prison with a preliminary hearing on March 10.
