A teenager was killed in a two-vehicle crash Saturday evening on Route 220 just south of Bedford.
According to state police, the crash occurred about 7:04 p.m. when the operator of a northbound vehicle attempted to pass a slow-moving vehicle and drove into the path of a southbound vehicle.
The operator of the southbound vehicle, described as a juvenile female, was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the teen's vehicle was flown to UPMC Altoona for treatment of suspected serious injuries, police said. The operator of the northbound vehicle and that vehicle's front seat passenger were transported via ambulance to UPMC Altoona.
The crash is under active investigation, police said. The crash closed both lanes of Route 220 for several hours.
